What is EBOO?
EBOO is a procedure in which your blood flows through a sterile filter outside your body, where oxygen and a controlled dose of ozone are applied, then returns to you. It is done in a clinic under a licensed physician.
What the four letters stand for
- Extracorporeal
- Outside the body. Blood is treated in a circuit next to you, then returned.
- Blood
- Your own blood. Nothing is taken from anyone else.
- Oxygenation
- Oxygen is added to the blood as it passes through the circuit.
- Ozonation
- A controlled dose of ozone, set by the clinic's physician, is also applied.
What happens in a session
Filtration usually takes about 60 minutes. Plan for about 2 hours at the clinic. Each clinic explains its own process before you book.
Arrival and checks
The clinic team confirms your details and checks blood pressure, pulse and oxygen.
IV access
A nurse places an IV line in each arm, one to draw blood and one to return it.
The filtration circuit
Blood passes through a sterile filter where oxygen and ozone are applied, then flows back to you.
Monitoring
Your vital signs and the circuit's pressure and flow are watched until the session ends.
Recovery
The lines come out, you rest, and the clinic tells you what to expect over the next day.
What EBOO is not
EBOO is not FDA-approved to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Published research on it is limited, and results differ from person to person.
It is not a replacement for care from your own doctor. Keep your doctor informed if you decide to have EBOO.
